Death threat, antisemitic insults and being spat at three times in work unit 3
On 05.08.2026 at around 12:45, in work unit 3, Sergej J. repeatedly threatened me with death, subjected me to antisemitic insults and spat in my face three times. He announced that he would intercept me that same day or, at the latest, the following day, cut my throat and kill me.
I did not respond physically, moved away, chose a different route to work and immediately reported the danger to a staff member. I named a fellow prisoner called Georgij from Latvia as a Russian-speaking witness. At around 14:45, I gave Ms Mahlow a detailed account. As I perceive it, the work area is under video surveillance.
That same day, I submitted a formal report of danger with an urgent application to the head of the institution (Mr Kratz), and a criminal complaint to the Potsdam Public Prosecutor’s Office — in each case requesting immediate preservation of the video recordings, physical separation and written confirmation.
Commentary — assessment by Dmitry Bagrash
Through my own conduct — avoiding confrontation rather than fighting back, and reporting immediately — I prevented a physical escalation. I see the fact that I was nevertheless initially not allowed to work as an additional disadvantage, although I did not cause the incident. I cannot prove whether there is an organised connection with earlier incidents — I expressly raise this only as a matter for examination, not as a proven fact.
