Press releases by Dmitry Bagrash — in chronological order
📅 2021–2022📍 Berlin
Case 0 press release: “How I insulted the Berlin prosecution service”
Detailed account of events before imprisonment — anti-Putin demonstrations, confiscation of the banner “Putin is a Killer” on the instructions of Senior Public Prosecutor Raupach (OStA), Julian Röpcke’s BILD article, OSCE mentions. Explains the political background to the later arrest.
Dmitry Bagrash’s final statement before Berlin Regional Court
In his final statement, Bagrash described his political activity as an anti-Putin activist, explained why the allegations were false and announced that he would initiate investigations against OStA Wachs after his release. Judge Groß interrupted him:
“That is irrelevant.” The sentence was 5 years and 4 months.
Hunger strike I — over perversion of justice through inaction by the Berlin Senate Department
Dmitry Bagrash announces a hunger strike from 05 May 2025 and publicly alleges Rechtsbeugung (perversion of justice) by the Berlin Senate Department for Justice (Senator Dr Felor Badenberg, CDU). The email went to over 40 recipients — including Federal President Steinmeier, Bundestag member Thorsten Frei (MdB), Strack-Zimmermann (MEP), Lagodinsky (MEP), the newsrooms of Spiegel, FAZ, Süddeutsche, BILD, Zeit and Handelsblatt, and OHCHR, HRW and Amnesty International.
What specifically is being denied to me:
Access to the files · Free choice of defence counsel · Correspondence with courts · Access to the court registry official
Announcement of hunger strike II — from 04.08.2025, over the continued denial of access to justice
Two days before the second hunger strike begins, Bagrash sends a public announcement to Senator Dr Badenberg, State Secretary Feuerberg and the Berlin press office — simultaneously copying 20 media outlets and organisations: FAZ, Süddeutsche, taz, FR, Handelsblatt, Die Presse, NZZ, Cicero, Spiegel, Welt, Focus, Stern, Zeit, NTV, HRW, Amnesty, OHCHR, EGMR and ICC.
Core point: He says the hunger strike is the only remaining means after coordinated action by the prison, court and Senate Department denied him access for weeks to submissions subject to deadlines and to an application to the European Court of Human Rights.
📅 05 August 2025📍 JVA Heidering, Großbeeren📨 Authorities + 20 media outlets + ECHR + ICC
Hunger strike II — ongoing violations of fundamental rights at JVA Heidering
After the transfer to JVA Heidering, the systematic obstruction continues. On 01.08.2025, wing officer Mattusch opened and withheld a letter containing ECHR documents — it was handed over only after the second hunger strike began. Bagrash demands criminal proceedings against the prison management, a disciplinary examination concerning §§ 202, 339, 258a StGB, and restoration of access to justice.
“In your view, is it compatible with the free democratic constitutional order for a person in Berlin in 2025 to be forced into a hunger strike simply to be able to make an application to the ECHR?”
— Closing question to Senator Badenberg, 05.08.2025
📅 09 September 2025📍 JVA Heidering, Großbeeren📨 50+ recipients — largest press release
Open letter: current obstruction of justice · Hunger strike as the only means · Request for immediate relief within 7 days
The most extensive press release in the case — an open letter to Senator Badenberg, sent simultaneously to more than 50 recipients in the justice system, media, human rights organisations and international institutions. Bagrash specifically identifies irreparable harm due to the continuing obstruction of justice and a risk of recurrence — demanding relief within 7 days.
The Bagrash case — documented procedural problems and the role of Senior Public Prosecutor Wachs
A detailed documentary letter identifying specific procedural errors and analysing Senior Public Prosecutor Wachs’s central role in the prosecution — with direct references to seized evidence and declarations in lieu of oath submitted to the Federal Court of Justice.
Core issue: Systematic suppression of Revision (appeal on points of law) documents through coordinated action by the court, prison and prosecution service — identifying specific persons responsible under § 339 StGB (Rechtsbeugung — perversion of justice).
📅 10 June 2026📍 Berlin Regional Court I, courtroom A704/3📨 taz · Spiegel · ZDF · HRW · Amnesty and others
Press release and documents: court hearing on 24.06.2026 — two-thirds hearing
Announcement of the hearing on early release (§ 57 StGB) before Berlin Regional Court I, sent with background documents to newsrooms and human rights organisations.

Refusal of early release — sofortige Beschwerde (immediate appeal) and Open Statement
On 24.06.2026, Berlin Regional Court I refused early release (Az. 589 StVK 86/26) — the decision was received on 01.07.2026. Dmitry Bagrash promptly lodged an sofortige Beschwerde (immediate appeal) and published an Open Statement on the decision. In his own assessment, this is the first order justified directly by his political activity and public criticism.
Journalistic support: On 08.07.2026, Tatiana Grigoreva sent her own press pitch to German-language newsrooms and documented two solidarity rallies (12 and 24 June 2026) with photographs.

770 pages of original documents published — criminal complaint under § 339 StGB against a judge and prosecutor
On 02.09.2026, Dmitry Bagrash filed a criminal complaint under § 339 StGB against Presiding Judge Groß and Senior Public Prosecutor Wachs. No decision has been made on the allegation; the presumption of innocence applies. On 08.09.2026, the complete documentation was published — around 770 pages, 320 dated events, with an exculpatory interpretation and identification of missing evidence for each allegation.

“Dmitri Bagrash, or the story of how the FSB made a laughing stock of the entire German Ministry of Justice”
Investigative research: how Russian intelligence services instrumentalised the Berlin justice system.
Key propositions: Not a single piece of direct evidence of an attempted murder; the telephone was used by Ukrainian refugees; the expert confirmed the physical inability to ignite; the judgment initially omitted all statutory provisions; the so-called “exile opposition” acted as an FSB tool. Available in German for the first time — with the full article text for Google indexing.

“Stop the deportation of Dmitry Bagrash!”
The second article on the same blog — unlike the first (19.05.), Elena Vasiljeva wrote this one herself in German from the outset. She examines the judgment’s reasoning point by point (canister, 13 days without traces of ignition, the fire-safety expert’s report, DNA contributors who were not questioned) and quotes the statement submitted to the foreigners authority. She also places the case within the wider debate on the deportation of Russian military service refusers to Germany.

“German authorities are considering the expulsion of Dmitry Bagrash, an opponent of the Putin regime, to Russia”
German summary (editorial, not a translation of the original text):
The Berlin State Office for Immigration has initiated proceedings that may lead to the expulsion of the founder of Unkremlin e. V. from Germany. The report cites the judgment of Berlin Regional Court I of 22.07.2024 (five years four months, final since 08.05.2025) and records that Bagrash denies committing the act. It refers to Unkremlin e. V.’s designation as an “undesirable organisation” in Russia, the resulting criminal liability for establishing and leading such an organisation, over 30 years of residence in Germany since 1992 (admission through Jewish immigration), his minor son in Germany and regular telephone contact with him. The portal further reports that his Russian passport expired in May 2024 and that approaching Russian consular authorities is considered unsafe; funds for legal representation are also lacking.

“Did a Russian activist try to set fire to the RIA Novosti newsroom in Germany?”
German summary (editorial, not a translation of the original):
A video investigation by The Insider into the allegation that is the subject of proceedings before Berlin Regional Court I. The original title is “Akzija s podschogom”; the German title is an original translation. To my knowledge, it also features
Prof. Dr. Andreas Heinemann-Grüder, whom I named in my final statement as a witness that my activity against Russian agents and propagandists was conducted exclusively by lawful and open means.
The date is the key point. The publication appeared
nine months before the judgment of 22.07.2024 and around six weeks before the hearing of BKA expert Dr Cox on 15.11.2023. The questions raised by this investigation were therefore already being asked publicly while the trial was ongoing.
The recording is in Russian without German subtitles. It is
linked here and not reproduced; it is mirrored on the Unkremlin channel.

Solidarity rallies — organised by Tatiana Grigoreva and Oleg Ponomarev
Independently of the official press work, supporters organised two rallies in support of Dmitry Bagrash — on 12 June and on the day of the two-thirds hearing, 24 June 2026. Tatiana Grigoreva also sent her own press letter to German-language newsrooms (08.07.2026) and offered to arrange interviews and video calls with Dmitry Bagrash from prison.

Solidarity rallies outside the German embassy in Yerevan
Independently of Berlin, several rallies took place outside the German embassy in Yerevan: in May 2026, on 20.06.2026 and 28.06.2026, and another on 05.07.2026 under the slogan “Dima, hold on!” — documented by Activatica and the Rusnews Telegram channel.
Senior Public Prosecutor Wachs’s role in the investigation, bringing of charges and blocking of the Revision. Criminal complaints under § 339 StGB have been filed.
7 questions to the Berlin justice authorities — so far unanswered
What procedural grounds were given for denying access to the files — and are those grounds documented in a verifiable way?
Was the role of media narratives (Russian state media, Feoktistov) considered in investigative decisions and the assessment of evidence?
What contacts existed between prosecution witnesses associated with Russian state media and the Berlin investigative authorities?
How is it possible that a prison employee, when attending the court registry official, knew the content of written submissions subject to the confidentiality duty of Tiergarten Local Court?
Why has the application to discharge appointed defence counsel remained undecided since December 2024?
The first criminal complaint against Presiding Judge at the Regional Court Groß (VRiLG) and OStA Wachs (2024) received no case reference and no response. A second criminal complaint, based on § 339 StGB, was filed on 02.09.2026. No decision has been made on either allegation; the presumption of innocence applies. Why has there still been no communication about the first complaint?
Was the confiscation of the “Putin is a Killer” banner on 17.09.2021 by OStA Raupach — precisely on the day of the Russian State Duma election — a coincidence?
