Open statement: “I refuse freedom in exchange for a confession”
Alongside my counterstatement, I published an open statement on the position of the Prosecutor General’s Office (Generalstaatsanwaltschaft). In it, I stated publicly that I would not make a confession to obtain early release. I announced that I would continue pursuing my rehabilitation exclusively through lawful means and publish the official documents and the names of the responsible office-holders in the context of their own decisions.
The open statement also identifies the central contradiction: the Prosecutor General’s Office itself states that an admission of guilt is not mandatory, yet still uses the lack of “Tataufarbeitung” — working through the offence — and my continued insistence on my innocence as arguments against my release.
Commentary — assessment by Dmitry Bagrash
The open statement is the public part of my legal counterstatement. It documents that legally permitted remedies, expressions of opinion and the transparent publication of official decisions must not be reinterpreted as alleged dangerousness.
